Zlatan Ibrahimović and AC Milan have apparently made a convincing impression on Kyle Walker, who is willing to leave Manchester City. After former star striker Ibrahimović, who now works as an advisor for the Serie A club, confirmed the courtship of right-back Walker, reports of an agreement reached and an impending transfer increased.
“Everyone knows Walker is a great player, he did great things at City. When someone like him is on the market there is a lot of interest. That doesn’t contradict our vision because he’s strong, he’s a leader, he’s dominant in the locker room. Now we are checking whether that is possible,” explained the Swede Ibrahimović.
The 34-year-old Walker was recently missing from his club Man City’s squad. “This isn’t easy for me right now and maybe I shouldn’t tell you this, but he’s not here. Two days ago he asked to be allowed to explore options for a foreign transfer,” explained coach Pep Guardiola when asked about the absence of the 93-time England international on the sidelines of the cup game against fourth division team Salford (8-0). “He asked us that before after our triple win in 2023. At that time, FC Bayern wanted him, but their offer wasn’t good enough,” said the Spaniard. “I prefer to let players play who are here with their heads.”
According to “L’Équipe”, Milan and Walker, who is contractually bound until 2026, have agreed that the two clubs would now have to agree on a transfer fee. “Now we are working,” emphasized Ibrahimović. “In the transfer market, the more you talk, the more expensive it gets, so it’s better not to say anything.” According to Fabrizio Romano, a loan deal with a purchase option is on the cards.
