Joël Schmied from FC Sion is an issue at 1.FC Köln, several media from Germany and Switzerland agreed on this on Thursday. The reports only differ widely regarding the status of the negotiations. While in the home of the central defender the “Corner Magazine” and in Germany “Sky” report on a quasi-firm transfer and the “Blick” also writes about advanced discussions, the “Express” is much more defensive.
Accordingly, Schmied is on Cologne’s list, but there can be no question of an almost perfect deal, it says there. Neither the allegedly negotiated contract until 2028 nor the proposed transfer fee of 1.5 to 2.5 million euros can be confirmed. Instead, the right-winger is just one of several candidates who are all still in the race.
Schmied has been a regular player in Sion for three years and helped the team return to the Super League last year. In 34 games in the Challenge League, the central defender scored five goals and provided three assists.
