509 professional games, 210 goals, 82 assists – and it’s far from over. Club legend Iago Aspas has extended his expiring contract with Spanish first division club Celta Vigo by another year. The Galicians presented the extension of the working paper with the 37-year-old striker to their fans as a Christmas present.

The most successful goalscorer in the club’s history comes from Celta’s youth and only did not play for the club between 2013 and 2015. In these two years, the 20-time Spanish international hunted for goals for Liverpool FC and Sevilla FC. Aspas is only 24 games short of Vigo’s record player Manolo (533 games) – under coach Claudio Giráldez, the team captain is also set for this season and is likely to set the mark by the end of his career.
