Bryan Zaragoza has been on loan from FC Bayern to CA Osasuna since the summer. There is no purchase option, so as of now the winger will return to Munich at the end of the season. However, the signs for a successful future for the German record champions are poor. The Spaniard’s most recent statements also suggest that further cooperation is unlikely.

“It’s not that I had a bad time, but I was promised a lot of things that didn’t happen,” Zaragoza said in an interview published Tuesday by Diario de Navarra. “It took me a lot of time to adapt. It was a different country, a different language, a different food, a different league. I couldn’t adapt in a month. Furthermore, what was around me didn’t help me. It took a while.”

Zaragoza came from FC Girona in January 2023 six months earlier than originally planned because Bayern were struggling with injury problems. In the second half of the season, the 1.64 meter tall offensive player only played a minor role and made seven appearances over 171 minutes in which he did not contribute to a goal.

In order to get more playing time, he was loaned to Osasuna in the summer, where things are going much better. One goal and five assists were recorded after 15 games before Zaragoza was stopped by a broken metatarsal in early December. According to the team’s own information, the return to team training is planned for the end of January or beginning of February, so there are still enough games left until the end of the season to make the fans cheer again.

“On the street people always ask if I’m staying,” says Zaragoza, who doesn’t rule out this option but points out the financial circumstances in Osasuna. “That remains to be seen. There are still five or six months left. Depending on the club’s situation, it will be examined whether I can return this year, next year or whenever. If there is an opportunity to continue playing in Osasuna, I will take a close look at it.” The contract in Munich is valid until 2029, Osasuna’s record purchase is 8 million euros for Ante Budimir in the summer of 2021.
