Jonathan Burkardt’s market value has increased by 10 million euros since the Bundesliga update on Friday. The FSV Mainz 05 striker is now valued at 25 million euros; the fourth highest market value of all German center forwards. Now the 24-year-old has also commented on the new number.
“25 million is an incredible sum for me,” said Burkardt at the microphone of the TV station “Sky”. “I am proud that it is recognized that I played a good year. Then it’ll be fine.” The player, who was injured for a long time last year, described his highlights from 2024 as staying in the league with FSV in a 3-1 win on matchday 34 in Wolfsburg, in which he scored, and his two appearances in the national team. Since January 2024, Burkardt’s market value has increased by 18 million euros from 7 million. Only seven Bundesliga players have surpassed that.
Burkardt was told his new market value “directly in the dressing room. “Our colleagues are keeping an eye on this,” the attacker is quoted as saying by the “VRM” network. In the Mainz market value ranking, Burkardt is by far the most valuable player, ahead of Nadiem Amiri (11 million).

Burkardt postponed thoughts about a possible change soon. “We are one game before the winter break and my contract runs until 2027,” he said. “I have other things on my mind right now than thinking about next steps next summer or whenever. I’m currently busy recuperating and recovering from my injury and hopefully being able to start the new year as well as I finished last year.” Burkardt is currently the third best scorer in the Bundesliga with ten goals this season.
Burkardt was also specifically asked about speculation about Eintracht Frankfurt and whether he could imagine moving to SGE. “That is a difficult question. “You can imagine anything in football, but I’m super happy at Mainz 05,” he said. “In this phase I have a completely different focus than talking about changes. It felt like 50 clubs were mentioned in the last few days and I didn’t even know where it came from. I have a different focus at this stage.”
