Southampton FC presented a successor five days after parting ways with promotion coach Russell Martin. Ivan Juric, who was recently released from AS Roma, is taking over at the Saints. The bottom team in the Premier League also traded Hansi Flick’s former assistant at FC Bayern and the German national team, Danny Röhl, but the 49-year-old Croatian was awarded the contract.

Juric was given a contract until the summer of 2026. A club statement said: “Despite our current position in the Premier League, we remain focused on the fight for survival this season and are confident that this appointment gives us the necessary grit and determination will give to improve the results on the pitch.”

Juric spent his previous coaching career in Italy, most recently in Rome until November 10th, where he had to leave after just twelve games and a points average of 1.25. Regarding his new commitment, he said: “I am very satisfied. I think it’s a really big challenge, but I’m very optimistic because I saw a team that can do better. It’s important to connect with fans immediately. I want an aggressive team and I think the Southampton fans will like that.”
