On March 29, 2023, Jamal Musiala was the first German footballer in the history of market values recorded since 2004 to exceed the 100 million mark. The Bayern professional ushered in a new era with his increase to 110 million euros and broke the record that Leroy Sané set with 100 million euros at Manchester City in December 2018. Musiala later had company at the top with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz – after which both set one German market value record after the next, more or less in step.
In the latest Bundesliga update, they were once again among the top winners and increased their valuations by 10 million euros each to 140 million euros. “Wirtz and Musiala have made a leap in development this season. Wirtz is also showing his enormous potential on the Champions League stage and Musiala has developed into the Munich player who carries the attack. “For fans and experts, Musiala is now Bayern’s most important player, on whom the welfare and woe of the entire club depends,” said market value expert Julius Weißenstein (“Savarez09”), explaining the appreciation of the German stars.
Musiala and Wirtz are now approaching the top of the world, where Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior are with 200 million euros each. Including the leadership duo, there are currently only six footballers in the world who are more valuable than the two German national players. There are always reports about whether the midfielders, who are said to get along well in their private lives, could play together in a club in addition to the DFB team in the future. FC Bayern should make intensive efforts to secure Wirtz’s services.
According to the latest reports, the Leverkusen player is facing a further extension with the Werkself until 2028 and will play for Bayer 04 until at least 2026. After that, a transfer fee of at least 150 million euros would be due for the exceptional talent, it is said. Musiala, on the other hand, has been in negotiations with the Munich team for a long time about an extension beyond 2026. The Stuttgart native is expected to become the figurehead of the record champions’ future, but a decision will not be made this year.
