The Romanian international Darius Olaru (26) has cemented his status as the most valuable professional in Romania’s upper house in the SuperLiga market value update. The attacking midfielder and FCSB captain climbed by 500,000 euros to 7.5 million euros and extended his lead over CS Universitatea Craiova’s winger Alexandru Mitriță (29; remains at 4 million euros) to 3.5 million euros.

The biggest winner is Olaru’s teammate Daniel Bîrligea (24), who is the only one to receive a seven-figure upgrade. For the current top goalscorer in the league with ten goals, it goes up by 1.8 million to 3.8 million euros, which means an increase of 90 percent, and is therefore third in the ranking of the most highly valued professionals.

An opposite trend can be seen with Aaron Boupendza (28). The center forward, who joined FC Rapid on a free transfer in September after a short spell without a club, has lost 700,000 euros in value as the league’s biggest loser and is now valued at 3.3 million euros. The attacker was previously tied with Mitriță as the second most valuable footballer in the SuperLiga, but now he has slipped to fifth place.

Things are also going downhill for the only German legionnaire in Romania, Christopher Braun (33), who was once trained in his youth at HSV and St. Pauli, among others. After a loss of 150,000 euros, FC Rapid’s full-back is valued at 550,000 euros.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
