After the announcement of a large investor to guarantee the event, news arrives about the Spanish F1 GP which will be held in Madrid from 2026 and even 2035. The same weekend will also host the championships FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3, also for ten years, the same period for which the arrival of the highest category of motorsports to the capital has been signed.

The agreement has been signed by the CEO of the FIA ​​F2 and F3 championships, Bruno Michel, and the president of the Executive Committee of Ifema Madrid, José Vicente de los Mozos, with the presence also of the executive vice president of this institution, Daniel Martinezand the general director of F1, Luis García Abad.

Having the Formula 2 and Formula 3 races on the same weekend as Formula 1 underlines the commitment of the organizers of the 2026-2035 Spanish GP, which will be held around the Fairgrounds and Valdebebas, to offer the greatest sporting spectacle and entertainment for fans.

The F2 It was created in 2017, revamping the competition that until then occupied its place, GP2. This last championship was born in 2005 as a category that would share the stage and circuits with Formula 1 precisely to promote young emerging promises to the highest category of motorsport. His same steps have been followed by drivers on the current grid of the stature of Charles Leclerc (F2 winner in 2017), George Russell (2018), and Oscar Piastri (2021).

Since its inception in 2019, the category has seen notable winners such as George Russel (2017), Oscar Piastri (2021) and Gabriel Bortoleto (2023), all of them progressing directly to F2 and beyond.

It is important that young drivers from both championships have the opportunity to race on as many F1 circuits as possible.
