The English champions Manchester City are still lagging behind their title claims in the Premier League and have once again dropped points. The star ensemble around striker Erling Haaland had to be content with a 2:2 (1:1) draw against relegation candidates Crystal Palace, trained by former Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner. City are already eight points behind Liverpool FC, who have also played a game less.
Daniel Muñoz (4th minute) and ex-Wolfsburg player Maxence Lacroix (56th) brought 16th place in the table. Crystal Palace took the lead twice, Haaland (30th) and Rico Lewis (68th) secured Man City at least one more point. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team was only able to win one of their last eleven competitive games. To make matters worse, goal scorer Lewis also saw a yellow-red card in the 84th minute.
Surprisingly, Nottingham Forest is only two points behind champions City. The Tricky Trees inflicted new coach Ruben Amorim’s first home defeat with Manchester United, after losing their second game in a row the Red Devils slipped to 13th place. Nikola Milenkovic (2nd), Morgan Gibbs-White (47th) and Chris Wood (54th) ensured the 3-2 (1-1) win away from home, with goals from Rasmus Højlund (18th) and Bruno Fernandes (61′) wasn’t enough for United.
Aston Villa is also only two points behind the Skyblues. The team from Birmingham, RB Leipzig’s next opponent in the Champions League, won 1-0 (1-0) against FC Southampton with a goal from Jhon Durán (24th). However, Liverpool FC’s Merseyside derby at Everton FC was canceled on Saturday due to a severe storm.
