1. FSV Mainz 05 has extended the expiring contract of regular goalkeeper Robin Zentner by three years. The 30-year-old is now tied to the zero fives until 2028. The Bundesliga club announced this before the home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Sunday afternoon.

Sports director Niko Bungert said: “Robin Zentner has continuously developed during his time here, having matured from a talent between the posts to a seasoned Bundesliga goalkeeper and leading player. His career is not only due to the outstanding goalkeeping training here, but also to Robin’s ambition and character. He has become a face of Mainz 05 and is happy to take responsibility for his team and the club – more than two decades at one club are a clear sign of his deep connection and importance to us.”

Zentner explained: “Mainz is my home, the extension was a heartfelt decision for me. I am looking forward to celebrating success with this team in the coming years. We have built a lot together over the last few years and are on the right track – I would like to continue to be part of this great development.”
