No future in Munich

Leon Goretzka has apparently changed his mind about his future at FC Bayern. As “Sky” reports, the 29-year-old midfielder’s focus remains on Munich, but preparations are being made in the background for a farewell next summer. A change in winter is also possible if a top offer arrives. Even before the season, Goretzka was considered a candidate for sale to the German record champions, but they wanted to stay and fight for a regular place.
However, after ten match days in the Bundesliga, only 141 minutes have been played – not enough for Goretzka’s ambitions, who, according to the report, wants to play an important role at a club again and return to the national team. He has 57 games in his resume, but he last played for the DFB team in November 2023. According to reports, there is interest in the Bochum native, including Manchester United.
Sports director Max Eberl recently made it clear again that Goretzka has no future at Bayern despite a contract that runs until 2026. He should leave the club by next summer at the latest, but they are also willing to talk about a loan including an obligation to buy in January. Goretzka’s current market value is 22 million euros. A price for the midfielder has not yet been set, it is said.
The money that would be raised from a sale should, in the best case scenario, be used to sign Florian Wirtz. The 21-year-old from Bayer Leverkusen is considered the Munich team’s desired target. Wirtz is under contract with the Werkself until 2027, and the transfer fee is likely to be a new Bayern club record. This is currently held by Harry Kane, who cost 95 million euros when he signed him in 2023.
Sales candidate Goretzka changed advisors
Goretzka recently changed management and is now represented by the ROOF agency, but will continue to be supported by Kristin Neubauer in marketing matters. Raphael Brinkert is also responsible for communications. For Goretzka, the Bundesliga game against FC St. Pauli on matchday 10 was the first appearance of the season from the start – also due to injury problems at FCB in this position. Previously, he played 134 minutes in eight games and had to be content with the reserve role.
