A few weeks after retiring, Andrés Iniesta started a new project. The 40-year-old joins the Danish third division club FC Helsingör with his company “Never Say Never”. In the last few months, “NSN” has been working as a consultant for the association. “Stoneweg”, a Spanish-Swiss investment platform, is also participating. Together, both will work together in management “to expand the club in all areas and to promote the development of young players through the club’s academy,” according to a club statement.

“As a professional, I am very motivated to start this new phase of my life and bring my experience to a club like FC Elsinore, the first project in an exciting alliance between NSN and Stoneweg. It’s a great opportunity to experience football in a different way,” said Iniesta.

The Spaniard is currently in Denmark to watch the game against Ishöj IF on Friday. Elsinore is currently seventh in the league with 19 points from 15 games. With coach Pep Alomar and sporting director Quim Ramón, two Spaniards already work in leading sporting positions at the club. Elsinore’s aim is to re-establish itself as a competitive team while maintaining a strong connection with the local community and developing young talent in the academy. The last time they were in the Superliga, the top Danish league, was in 2017/18.
