Hugo Larsson is one of the most valuable professionals at Eintracht Frankfurt and is said to be on the list of numerous top European clubs. These include the England trio FC Liverpool, FC Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but also FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, as a look into the rumor mill shows. When asked whether the SGE fans should fear a departure next summer, he replied to the “Kicker”: “I feel very comfortable at Eintracht – on and off the pitch. I’m enjoying my time here. I believe Frankfurt is getting better every year and I want to be part of that journey.”

Larsson emphasized that he wouldn’t sign anything he didn’t want to do. In October, the 20-year-old Swede extended his contract, which originally ran until 2028, by one year and, according to the TV broadcaster “Sky”, he does not have an exit clause. So the SGE could freely negotiate the transfer fee if an interested party were serious. Larsson’s market value is 28 million euros, Frankfurt have collected more than this amount five times in the club’s history. By far the most expensive sale is Randal Kolo Muani (2023 for 95 million to PSG).

With the move from Malmö FF to SGE for 9 million euros, Larsson became the top sale of the Swedish Allsvenskan at the time. Since then, things have only gone in one direction for him: upwards. Eintracht has recently proven “that it is a perfect club for the development of young players. Here you can present yourself on a big stage. It’s a lot of fun and I feel like we can have a successful team every year.”

The youngster sees the fact that several people in the club look after the young players as a reason “why so many talents can perform quickly at Eintracht”. Larsson also spoke about insecurities: “With football, I knew that if I gave my best I could play at this level. I was more afraid of living alone abroad for the first time. That made me a little nervous.”

It was always his goal to move from Sweden to the Bundesliga, “because it is a top league for young players and the intensity fits my profile. When Frankfurt called, I told my agents straight away that I didn’t want to go anywhere else.” Larsson believes that SGE has what it takes to become a top club in Germany. “If we aren’t already one,” he added. After the 10th matchday, Frankfurt is on course for the Champions League, with 20 points and the gap to RB Leipzig and FC Bayern is one and six points respectively.

“We have signed good players. But the players who, like me, came a year ago also feel even better this season. I probably speak for ten other guys in the dressing room. Now we know the league and know what the coach wants. “We not only have a great first eleven this season, but also a very strong squad overall,” said Larsson. That’s why he thinks the SGE is strong enough for the top four.
