Jose Mourinho It goes from sanction to sanction. On Thursday he watched from the stands the Europa League match that his current team, Fenerbahçe, lost to AZ Alkmaar (3-1). The Portuguese coach was serving his suspension for the red card he saw against Manchester United (1-1) on the previous day of the tournament.
Well today Mourinho has been suspended for one match and fined a total of 26,000 euros by the disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Federation.
The reason? Mourinho’s very harsh statements after the match won against Trabzonspor (2-3) last Sunday in the Turkish Super League. The victory came with a goal in the 12th minute of added time. Sofyan Amrabat and despite the fact that the rival team scored its two goals from penalties, while Fenerbahçe was not granted one that it claimed. The Portuguese coach ran onto the field and tried to celebrate the goal on his knees but fell face-first onto the grass.
The harsh statements
”’I couldn’t believe that this was the dimension of the Super League. The Turkish League is too dark, too grey, it smells bad,” Mourinho said after the game.
‘We play against good rivals, but also against the system. That is the most difficult thing there is, we play against the VAR, against the system”Mourinho continued. “That’s why we celebrate like this after winning. We won against very, very strong people. I’m angry with the Fenerbahçe people who brought me here, they told me half the story. “If they had told me everything, I wouldn’t have come to Fenerbahce.” The Portuguese arrived at the Istanbul club in June.
The Turkish Federation imposes on him for these harsh accusations, in which he questioned the impartiality of the referees, a fine of 24,500 euros. In addition, he is punished with a one-match suspension and 1,500 euros more for unsportsmanlike conduct towards Trabzonspor fans.
