After the market value update in the Besta deild, there is a new most valuable player in the Icelandic premier league. Ísak Snaer Thorvaldsson (23) from master Breidablik Kópavogur increases by 50,000 euros to 650,000 euros and at the same time benefits from the significant devaluation for Valur Reykjavík’s Gylfi Sigurdsson (35) – the biggest in the league with minus 250,000 to 500,000 euros.
Ex-Bremen player Aron Jóhannsson (33), who was also the most valuable player in the league, also lost out and, after a loss of 100,000 euros, is now valued at 200,000 euros. The biggest winner, on the other hand, is the Icelandic talent Gísli Thórdarson (20), who climbs by 390,000 euros to 400,000 euros. The defensive midfield youngster plays with his club Víkingur Reykjavík in the Conference League and made it to the Icelandic U21 national team in September.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
