Bernie Ecclestone inventor of modern F1 and Supreme of the championship until 2017, has also rebelled against the way of sanctioning that the championship currently has.

“This is getting crazy,” says Bernie, 94, after what was seen in the races in Austin and Mexico with the sanctions in one place and not in another against Max Verstappen.

“The current rules can be summed up in one phrase: ‘don’t fight or you’ll get in trouble’. We saw it in Mexico with the two 10-second penalties given to Max,” he adds.

“If those sanctions are given for that, What will be done if something more serious happens? How many seconds will it take in that case? I think we have gone too far,” says the former great leader of the Great Circus.

“Now everything is too clean, too methodical. It’s no longer a real race,” he said on the Belgian channel RTBF, where he took the opportunity to acknowledge that at least somewhat F1 has improved under the leadership of Liberty.

“It’s like everywhere in the world. Everything changes all the time. I’m not saying that people today are doing a bad job.they simply have not analyzed closely enough the things that need to be eliminated and changed,” he closes.
