As of November 2024, at least 50 million euros in market value are required to be one of the 100 most valuable footballers in the world. This currently applies to 120 players, 57 of whom are active in the Premier League – one fewer than in the last measurement period at the end of July. The others are spread across LaLiga (24 players/ +5 players), the Bundesliga (13/ -2), Serie A (13/ -1), Ligue 1 (9/ +-0), the Portuguese league (1 / -1), the Saudi Pro League (2/ +1) and, for the first time, the Süper Lig after Victor Osimhen’s loan transfer to Galatasaray – even after its devaluation to 75 million euros. The reasons for the market value changes in the individual leagues can be found here.

According to the autumn updates, the most valuable squads are still Real Madrid and Manchester City with 1.36 and 1.26 billion euros respectively (for statistics). However, both do not have the most players in this selection: Arsenal FC, third in the squad value ranking (€1.17 billion), Paris Saint-Germain in eighth place (€893 million) and Manchester United (€854 million). In ninth place, each team has ten professionals with a market value of at least 50 million euros. The most valuable players at PSG and United, Bradley Barcola and Rasmus Højlund as well as Bruno Fernandes, are just in the global top 50 with 65 million euros each.

Real and City, like FC Barcelona (€944 million), have nine players with this or a higher valuation. City had topped the ranking in the summer, but Kevin De Bruyne (€45 million), Matheus Nunes (€40 million) and Julián Alvarez (€75 million) have since dropped out of there after his departure to Atlético Madrid.

New double top in the market value ranking – 3 Bundesliga professionals in three figures

The Royals, represented by Vinicius Junior, and the Skyblues with Erling Haaland form the new double top in the market value ranking. Both were upgraded to 200 million euros and are therefore historically ahead together with Kylian Mbappé, who, like Jude Bellingham, is still at 180 million euros.

Of the 18 players with a market value in the three-digit million range, seven play at Real Madrid – and three in the Bundesliga: Bayern Munich’s offensive stars Jamal Musiala (€130 million) and Harry Kane (€100 million) as well as Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s mastermind Florian Wirtz ( €130 million). The two German national players are the most valuable German professionals in the 20-year history of market value on Transfermarkt. Of the 13 Bundesliga professionals among the 100 most valuable footballers, eight play for Bayern, two for Bayer 04 and three for RB Leipzig.

This is how transfer market market values work

The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
