Lamine Yamal seamlessly continues his high flight with Spain after the European Championship title with the club. Despite being only 17 years old, he started the new season at FC Barcelona like an old hand and has already scored four goals and five assists in nine LaLiga games, making him one of the four best scorers in the Spanish top flight. The prodigy’s market value was then increased by 25 percent from 120 million to 150 million euros in the latest LaLiga update. The winger sets further records and underlines his status as one of the greatest talents in world football.
At 150 million euros, Lamine Yamal is now the most valuable footballer in Spain’s history. The youngster overtakes Rodri from Manchester City, who was previously at the top with 130 million euros. He also placed himself at the top of the most valuable U18 professionals in history – and by a huge margin.
“Lamine appears to be redefining the boundaries of what is possible and continues to evolve at an unstoppable pace. At 17, he has become an integral part of the Spanish national team and Barça. This is at an age when most talents are dreaming of their professional debut. His influence and efficiency have increased enormously, and after nine league games he is already approaching his goal tally from the entire last season,” says market value admin Tobias Blaseio.
New LaLiga market values: Vini Jr. at Haaland level – Yamal continues to rise
Before the Spanish teenage sensation, no U18 player had ever reached the €100 million mark in market value. Behind him in this ranking are Kylian Mbappé, who had a market value of 90 million euros in 2017 at the age of 18, and Gavi, who was also valued at 90 million euros in 2022 at the age of 18. There have been four players so far who have cracked 80 million euros at such a young age, including two former talents from the Bundesliga with the two ex-Dortmunders Jude Bellingham (2022) and Jadon Sancho (2019).
The only German in the top 10 is Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who had a market value of 70 million euros in 2021 at the age of 18, leaving FC Bayern’s Jamal Musiala behind in these statistics. In 2021 this came to 18 to 55 million euros. Both have now established themselves as top players in the Bundesliga and are the most valuable German footballers in history, worth 130 million euros each.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
