After the Brazilian Série A presented its market value update last week, the Liga Profesional in Argentina follows on Transfermarkt. With Claudio Echeverri (18) from River Plate, there is a player at the top of the new ranking who will play in the Premier League in the future. In second place is one of his teammates who is considered a promising talent: Franco Mastantuono (17) was able to increase his market value by 3 million euros to 13 million euros and is therefore together with Cristian Medina (22) from Boca Juniors, who is also following the update is worth 13 million euros, the second most valuable professional in Argentina.
“Echeverri and Mastantuono are among the most promising players in Argentina,” explains Scott Christensen, Area Manager South America and Argentina at Transfermarkt, adding: “Mastantuono has been linked to Real Madrid and I am sure that if it is not Real, he will will still end up at a top European club.” The midfielder is characterized by his overview and his good dribbling. In 30 games he scored three goals and prepared two more.
Medina was also on his way to Europe, but his move to Fenerbahce fell through. “Fenerbahce was ready to pay $15 million, but when the market in Argentina closed, the demand increased to $20 million and the Turkish club broke off negotiations,” said Christensen. In the winter, the Turkish club will make a new foray into Medina, who is considered a creative playmaker.
Future Chelsea player Anselmino rises by 166.7 percent
The market value of Aarón Anselmino (19) has increased by a whopping 166.7 percent as a result of the update. The defender, who plays for Boca Juniors, is moving to Chelsea FC next summer for €20 million and was able to increase his market value from €3 million to €8 million as a result. “The market for Argentine central defenders in Europe is open. Although he didn’t play much – and when he did play, he wasn’t great – Anselmino is now next. The increase in his market value is mainly as an adjustment to the high transfer fee paid by Chelsea.”
Another professional from Argentina who could attract interest from European clubs in the future is Thiago Fernández (20). “He’s been really outstanding over the last three or four months,” Christensen said of the Vélez Sarsfield winger. “He is fast and unpredictable. Vélez is known for developing talent and in my opinion Thiago Fernández is one of their biggest hopes.” Following the update, his market value was increased by €3.2 million to €5 million – an increase of 177.8 percent.
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this will be here listed. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for a detailed definition of market value).
