For Red Bull Salzburg, the new phase of the Champions League has started with a clear false start. The weakened Austrian runners-up had to admit defeat to Sparta Prague 0:3 on Wednesday after a poor performance.

Kaan Kairinen (2nd minute), Victor Olatunji (42nd) and Qazim Laci (58th) punished the mistakes of the defensively very vulnerable Salzburg team. For the Red Bulls, it is the second defeat and the third winless game in a row.

However, there were no goals scored in FC Bologna’s Champions League debut, with the Italians drawing 0-0 with Shakhtar Donetsk in front of their home crowd. The Ukrainians missed an early opportunity to take the lead with a penalty through Georgiy Sudakov (4th).
