The transfer of Mohamed Simakan (24) from RB Leipzig to Al-Nassr FC is imminent. As the French broadcaster “RMC Sport” and transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano report, the club from Saudi Arabia and the Bundesliga club have agreed on a transfer fee of 45 million euros. On Friday, Simakan is to undergo a medical check and sign a five-year contract.
With a Simakan sale, Leipzig’s transfer income this summer would rise to 108 million euros – that would be by far the highest in the Bundesliga. Expenses, meanwhile, are 44 million euros. Simakan has been playing for RB since 2021, which transferred 15 million euros to RC Strasbourg Alsace at the time. Since then, the defender has played 122 games, in which he scored seven goals and provided 13 assists. He increased his market value from 18 million to the current 35 million euros – only four players in the RB squad are valued higher. His contract is valid until 2027.
António Silva (20) from Benfica Lisbon and Lutsharel Geertruida (24) from Feyenoord Rotterdam are being discussed as replacements by the Red Bulls. Silva, who has already played 13 international matches for the Portuguese national team, is initially to be loaned out. It is not yet clear whether the deal includes an obligation to buy or just an option to buy. The same model could be possible for Geertruida, in whom the Saxons were already very interested last year. However, a transfer failed due to Feyenoord’s demands. While Silva’s market value is 45 million euros, Geertruida’s is 32 million euros.
Update 21:26: According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Geertruida is expected to move to RB on deadline day. He was always the preferred candidate, and Silva was not for sale anyway. Geertruida will travel to Leipzig on Friday to undergo medical examinations. A transfer fee of 25 million euros is being discussed. “De Telegraaf” previously reported that Feyenoord was demanding at least 20 million euros.
