The chances that Niclas Füllkrug (31) will leave Borussia Dortmund after just one year are apparently increasing. According to a report by “Sky Sports”, West Ham United and the Black and Yellows are getting closer and closer in negotiations and an agreement is becoming more likely. There is also said to be progress with the striker.
Just a week ago, coach Nuri Şahin had stressed that he was planning with Füllkrug for the new season. “Fülle knows what I think of him. We had a lot of contact over the summer,” he said about the ongoing speculation. “He was my teammate in Bremen (five games together; ed.) and he knows how much I value him. We want to have the best possible team and Niclas Füllkrug and Serhou Guirassy play a central role in my plans.” It no longer looks like that.
Only details remain to be clarified between the clubs, according to reports, and those in charge at the Hammers are optimistic that an agreement will be reached. Dortmund appears to have set their demands well above the market value (15 million euros), and according to “The Athletic” an offer of 20 million euros was rejected. Füllkrug himself, about whom it was said about a month ago that he wanted to face the competition in the BVB attack, is open to leaving. In addition, the first contract terms have already been agreed.

Last season, Füllkrug contributed 15 goals and ten assists in 45 games for Dortmund, and he was successful twice as a substitute at the European Championships in the summer. After AC Milan and Atlético Madrid were initially considered interested in Füllkrug, reports about West Ham recently emerged. The Premier League club failed in its attempt to sign Jhon Durán (20) from Aston Villa, which is why they are now trying Füllkrug.
